Apple Maps will be embedded inside Ford's EV platform in 2027, bypassing CarPlay entirely

Apple and Ford announced today that Apple Maps will be natively embedded in Ford's Universal Electric Vehicle platform starting in 2027, using a new MapKit for Automotive SDK that runs inside Ford's vehicle OS rather than through CarPlay. Ford's Latitude AI team will also use Apple's road-level mapping data to build next-generation hands-free driving features, including a Level 3 eyes-off system targeting 2028 on a $30,000 EV pickup.
