AZCO Adds Mini-Winder to Machine Offering With S-Y-M Products Company Acquisition|

AZCO Corp acquires S-Y-M Products Company, adding the Mini-Winder automatic tube coiling machine to its lineup of feeding, cutting, and placing equipment for medical and industrial manufacturers.

AZCO Corp has acquired S-Y-M Products Company, a manufacturer and distributor of automatic tube coiling machines. The deal brings S-Y-M's Mini-Winder and other coiling and winding equipment into AZCO's existing portfolio of feeding and cutting machines, giving the company a more complete offering for manufacturers working with tubing and wire.

For any operation that assembles and packages tubing and wire sets, the Mini-Winder addresses two persistent problems at once. It increases production output while preventing the hand and wrist injuries that come with manual coiling. The machine counts the number of revolutions required to complete a coil and stops automatically. Once it stops, the pins on which the coil was wrapped lower, allowing operators to slide the finished coil directly into a package without handling the material excessively.

The units are compact and versatile enough to fit into tight production floor spaces. They are also cleanroom-compatible, which makes them particularly relevant for medical tubing manufacturers who must meet strict environmental standards. According to AZCO, the Mini-Winder can produce uniform coils three times faster than conventional methods, a claim that carries real weight in high-volume production settings where every second of cycle time matters.

What makes this acquisition strategically sound is how naturally the Mini-Winder complements AZCO's existing products. The company has long built its business around feeding, cutting, and placing modules that manufacturers can mix and match. Adding coiling capability to that portfolio closes a gap that customers would otherwise fill with a separate vendor or manual labor.

Consider the pairing with AZCO's PC-25 Tubing Cutter, an automatic benchtop unit designed for processing flexible tubing up to one inch in diameter. Together, the PC-25 and the Mini-Winder create an integrated cut-and-coil workflow for flexible and medical tubing. That kind of streamlined process reduces material handling between steps, which in turn lowers the chance of contamination, damage, or inconsistency in the final product.

For medical device manufacturers in particular, this matters. Tubing used in catheters, IV sets, and similar applications must be cut cleanly and coiled uniformly to meet both regulatory requirements and end-user expectations. A process that handles both steps with minimal manual intervention is not just faster but more reliable, and reliability in medical manufacturing directly affects patient safety.

The acquisition also reflects a broader trend among equipment suppliers to offer more complete solutions rather than individual machines. Manufacturers increasingly prefer vendors who can cover multiple steps in their production process, reducing the integration headaches that come with piecing together equipment from different suppliers. AZCO, which has operated since 1983 and holds ISO 9001 certification, clearly understands this shift. Its building-block approach to equipment design, where standard modules can be purchased alone or combined into custom configurations, aligns well with what modern production floors demand.
