Tencent-backed StepFun unveiled the StepX Neo in Shanghai on July 13, a smartphone built around its own Step AOS operating system and an AI agent called Amoo that handles tasks across apps without user input. The launch puts a three-year-old Chinese startup ahead of Apple and OpenAI in shipping agent-native hardware, with a fuller debut set for the World Artificial Intelligence Conference on July 17.
