New Emerson Pneumatic Valves Provide Greater Automation Flexibility, Optimized Flow

Emerson's new AVENTICS Series XV pneumatic valves give machine builders a flexible, interoperable platform with higher flow rates in a compact design.

Emerson has launched its AVENTICS™ Series XV pneumatic valves, a platform built around a straightforward idea: machine builders should not have to redesign their pneumatic systems every time requirements change. The Series XV line is designed with interoperability at its core, giving manufacturers across factory automation, automotive, food processing and packaging a single valve platform that adapts rather than forces compromise.

For machine builders and end users operating globally, this matters more than it might seem at first glance. Different regions demand different standards, thread types and connectivity options. Series XV valves address this with universal threads and features that support regional standards out of the box, eliminating the need to source separate components for separate markets. That translates to less inventory complexity, shorter lead times and fewer headaches on the factory floor.

The performance side of the equation is equally important. Series XV valves deliver higher flow rates in a compact valve package, enabling more efficient and flexible pneumatic system performance. For manufacturers, that means the ability to boost productivity while also offering products customized for specific markets and customer preferences without overengineering the underlying system.

"In all industries, manufacturers need high-performance technology that gives them the agility and flexibility to stay ahead of rapidly changing market demands," said Wolf Gerecke, director of product marketing for Emerson's machine automation business. "The new AVENTICS Series XV pneumatic valves deliver that performance with optimized flow, a wide range of valves and an extensive portfolio of accessories."

The series launches with the XV03, which provides flow volumes up to 350 liters per minute in normal conditions (NL/min). The XV05, scheduled for release in October 2024, pushes that figure up to 880 NL/min. Both sizes share consistent interfaces, meaning builders can scale their designs without rethinking the architecture from scratch.

All valves in the Series XV line are built on proven AVENTICS core technology. They include metal threads for durability, parallel wiring options, aluminum base plates and compact dimensions that simplify integration into existing production system designs. These are not flashy features on their own, but together they reduce the friction that slows down machine builds and commissioning.

Connectivity is another area where Series XV aims to remove barriers. The valves support a wide range of options, from single wiring to parallel connections such as D-SUB connectors. They also support leading fieldbus protocols including PROFINET®, Ethernet/IP, EtherCAT, Powerlink, Modbus TCP, IO-Link and AS-I. Whatever control network a facility runs on, these valves are designed to plug into it without requiring custom adapters or workarounds.

Commissioning is similarly streamlined. The AVENTICS online configurator supports system layout and provides useful technical data during the planning phase, while straightforward system documentation helps speed up machine development. The goal is to reduce the time between design and deployment, which is where delays and cost overruns typically creep in.
