A US export control directive blocking foreign access to Anthropic's Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models has triggered what Cohere described to Bloomberg as "huge" inbound enterprise interest. With its recent Aleph Alpha merger and sovereign AI positioning, Cohere has a credible pitch, but Mistral and OpenAI are competing for the same displaced buyers, and the window to convert interest into contracts is narrow.
